Car Insurance Ford (Car Insurance). How good is a "3.4L V6 SFI" Engine and what does it mean.?How good is a "3.4L V6 SFI" Engine and what does it mean.? What does 3.4L, V6, and SFI mean when talking about an engine. How good is it compared to other cars? I'm buying my first vehicle and do not understand cars at all. 3.4 liter is the displacement of the engine, V6 is the number and arrangement of the cylinders (6 pistons in a V pattern) SFI stands for Sequential Fuel Injection. This is a GM engine if I am correct and a decent engine, however I am sure it is one of the engines GM had DEX cool issues with so be cautious there and ask about it. Other than that they are decent engines and very torquey T.C is right indeed. But for a more simple explanation...its one that makes a loud noise, goes fast and is NOT very good for fuel consumption. 3.4 liter size of engine v6 arangement of the cylinders 3 on one side 3 on the other like a v Auto parts : Carpet Kit Acura 1995 . Ford . How to Replace the Idler Pulley on a 2000 Nissan MaximaThe idler pulley on the 2000 Nissan Maxima supplies tension to the serpentine belt as it stretches out from use. The idler pulley is under constant tension. Other pulleys in the serpentine pulley system are replaced when the component it connects to is replaced. The idler pulley never gets replaced. This increases the risk of idler pulley failure. If the idler fails, it usually locks up and the pulley stops spinning. This could cause excessive heat in the serpentine belt and cause the belt to snap. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 3/8-inch ratchet driver Socket set Step by Step : 1 Locate the serpentine pulley diagram on the radiator shroud. If it is not on the shroud, it is under the hood. The diagram shows you where the idler pulley is located. The pulley is at the bottom of the engine and has a square-receiving hole in the middle of it. 2 Place the 3/8-inch ratchet drive into the receiving hole and pull up on the handle. Slide the serpentine belt off the pulley. Do not remove the belt from any other pulleys. 3 Remove the two bolts that secure the idler pulley to the engine block. 4 Secure the new pulley to the engine block by bolting it in place using the old bolts, a socket and the ratchet. 5 Place the 3/8-inch ratchet driver into the receiving hole of the new idler pulley, pull up on the handle and slide the serpentine belt over the pulley.
Ford . How to Replace an Idler Pulley in a 1993 Dodge Dakota SportDodge uses an idler pulley to create consistent tension on the serpentine belt in the 1993 Dodge Dakota Sport. As the belt stretches out, a spring on the idler pulley forces the belt tighter. Over time, the bearing inside the idler pulley wears out and eventually, it could seize up. This causes the serpentine belt to slip on the idler pulley and start to squeal. It could cause the belt to break as well. If the idler in your Dakota wears out, purchase a new one from a Dodge dealership and install it on your Dakota. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need 3/8-inch ratchet driver Socket set Step by Step : 1 Locate the idler pulley toward the bottom of the engine. The pulley has a square hole in the face of it. 2 Place the 3/8-inch ratchet driver into the square hole on the face of the idler pulley and pull up on the handle. Pull the belt off the pulley. Do not pull the belt off any other pulley 3 Remove the two bolts that secure the idler pulley bracket onto the engine block using a socket and ratchet. 4 Secure the new idler pulley bracket to the engine block using the original bolts, a socket and a ratchet. 5 Put the 3/8-inch ratchet driver into the square hole on the new pulley and pull up on the handle. Slide the belt over the pulley and remove the ratchet from the pulley. *involved are easy to adjust and replace.) And there are several additional good reasons to tune your car yourself: First, you can afford to tune your vehicle more often. This saves you even more money because a well-tuned car lasts longer than one that isn't. Second, a well-tuned car is a gas saver. You not only spend less money for fuel, but your vehicle produces less air pollution, too. Finally, if you tune your car yourself, you know whether it's been done properly, and you can adjust it yourself for peak performance. Before you read this chapter or attempt any of the work in it, be sure to read Chapter 5, which describes the different types of electrical systems on your car: the starting, charging, and ignition systems. It introduces you to their 474

If you try to work without that data, you'll be flying blind in dangerous territory! Also, be sure to read the sections in Chapter 1 called "Safety Rules" and "How to Take Anything Apart — and Get It Back Together Again" before you undertake any electrical work. All set? Great! Tackle ignition tune-ups first, and then get on to easy stuff like replacing fuses and adjusting, replacing, and aligning headlights. Hovf) Often \lou Should Tune \lour Car Tune-up intervals vary from one vehicle to another. Most older cars should be tuned every 10,000 to 12,000 miles or every year, whichever comes first. Newer cars with electronic ignition and fuel injection systems are scheduled to go from 25,000 miles to as many as 100,000 miles without needing a major Ford . Which cars have the smart key system?
I'm researching this same question. So far, I know the Nissan Sentra has what they call Intelligent Key. Suzuki XL-7. * tune-up. See your owner's manual for recommended tune-up intervals, but be aware that even if it says that the vehicle doesn't require scheduled tune-ups very often, it's in your best interest to check periodically that it's working at peak efficiency. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving or pull heavy loads (like a camper or boat), your ignition system may need to be tuned more often, no matter what type of system it is. Here are some of the symptoms that tell you that your ignition system probably needs to be tuned or adjusted: . Chapter 12: Keeping Your Electrical System in Tune V* The car stalls a lot. The spark plugs may be fouled or worn, the gap may need adjusting, or the idle speed or an electronic sensor may need to be adjusted. Stalling can also be caused by problems with the fuel system (see Chapter 13). If you're having trouble pinpointing the cause, you can help your automotive technician diagnose the problem if you're aware of whether the engine stalls when it's hot, cold, or when the air conditioner is on. e* The car gets harder to start. The problem can be in the starting system or can be due to an electronic component, such as the starting sensor or the ignition system's computer. It could also lie in the fuel system, so check that out, too. What ^ou Need to Do the Work in This Chapter When it's time to change your spark plugs and/or tune your car, have the items you need for each task assembled and handy before you begin. You probably already have some of these items. If you're buying tools, Chapter 2 describes them and provides tips on buying good ones. Everything should be easy to find at reputable hardware and auto supply stores. Before you go shopping, see the sections of this chapter called "Buying the right parts for your car" and "Understanding tune-up specifications." They can help you avoid what is probably the most annoying part of any automotive job: disabling your car to work on it only to find that you have to drive back to the store to exchange the stuff they sold you in error! It's a good idea to stick with parts from the same manufacturer as those that your vehicle originally came with. That brand may be listed in a service manual for your vehicle. If you don't have a service manual, tell the sales clerk at the auto parts store that you want OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. Ford . Highest mpg from an suv?

See if you can get a discount by telling them that you're installing the parts yourself. It can't hurt to try. Even if you don't get a price break, you're still ahead of the game because you don't have to pay labor charges. If you have an electronic or distributorless ignition system, almost the only work you'll need to do is to check and reinstall your spark plugs.
